Just as the clock was about to strike 10,000 losses, the Phils reprieve from the governor....and don't think Karma didn't play a hand in it.
The Phils won today 8-4 today to salvage a win from their three game series against the Rockies. When the Phils were nursing a 5-4 lead in the 7th inning, a rain storm blew into Denver and delayed the game. While the home team headed off to their club house to avoid the heavy stuff, the Phils did a good deed and helped the grounds crew cover the field. Just goes to show that good things can happen to good people.
In any event, I'm glad the Phils won and put off their mile stone loss for another day. I hope the 10,000th loss is a prime time story during the All Star break. Maybe the current owners will be so embarrassed that they will feel compelled to sell the team.
Can we be that lucky?

They aren't going to sell.
Also, I heard on the radio this morning that the Phils jumped in to help the grounds crew after one of the groundskeepers got trapped underneath the tarp while trying to unfurl it on the field.
The Phils bench jumped into action and helped the guy out from under the huge (and probably heavy) sheet of plastic.
The Phils got a standing O when the game restarted about an hour or so later.
Unfortunately, they will still lose number 10,000 this weekedn when they play St. Louis.
I love this team, a bunch of good guys, even Pat the Bat was out there. Too bad injuries to the pitching staff is holding them back.
Wait...when did Pat Gillick and/or Dave Montgomery start reading this site?
Do we actually have confirmation that Burrell was out there? I was wondering if he ventured out there to lend a hand.
Like I said before, you should feel lucky to not live in KC, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, etc. where your baseball team is out of it before the season even starts.
