Some of you may recall the old line from Dandy Don Meredith from Monday Night Football from back in the 70's: "Turn out the light's, the party's over." That line pretty much sums up my feelings on the state of the Donovan McNabb/Andy Reid era Philadelphia Eagles after tonight's game. The Birds simply had no answer for the 'Boys tonight. You likely won't see as complete a domination by any team this year not named the Patriots. However, I'll spare you the gory details as I'm looking at things from more of a "big picture" perspective.
Since the year 2000, the Birds have either been an ascending team or a legitimate title contender in every year but the catastrophic second year of T.O. Unfortunately, those days or over. Clearly, this team just does not have the talent to compete with the elite of the NFC. If tonight's game wasn't clear evidence that this franchise needs to start over, then I seriously question if you are watching the same team that I've been watching the last seven weeks.
Sure, the Reid/McNabb era has had many successes and has been fun at times, but the sad part is that the Birds never cashed in and won a title. Sadly, the 'Boys have passed us by again and will likely get back and win a 'Bowl before we do.
The question now becomes, "where do we go from here"? While that may be the case, I'm not sure it should be done at this moment. I think it's a question for another day because I really feel tonight like we watched a beloved family member pass on. We need to let the grieving process begin.
Rest In Peace, McNabb/Reid Eagles.
(Boy, is it going to be a long eight weeks of football.)

They're an 8-8 team right now. Couple of the early games could have went our way.
Here's the dilemma. If you put the kid in your letting everyone know that McNabb is history and he has no value. If you continue playing McNabb you delay the growth of Kolb.
The worst place in the World is Limbo, we're in Limbo.
You're back?
Was the picture for this story a little extreme?
I think the Captain was being very positive with his 8-8 prediction. I see this team as no better than 7-9. Don't forget that they have to play their division 3 more times, oh and they have to face the Patriots.
The rest of the Captain's points are dead on. This team is in the worst place it could be right now. The trouble is, there doesn't seem to be a right move for them now. Whatever they do will be criticized by at least half of the fans and the media.
Thank for your kind words SJN. They've dropped 2 possibly 3 games they had no business losing. GB would be 6-2 now if we had someone on the roster that could catch a punt. The Chicago game was a joke and Tra's replacement gave us no chance against the G-Men.
We can certainly win our next 2 to get to 5-5. We have no shot at beating the Pats or Dallas. It may be difficult to win 3 of 4 against the rest to get to 8-8. Limbo is a bad Mother F'er.
George...that picture was absolutely necessary. This team is dead.
Capt, I have two questions....what drugs are you taking and are you selling any? What makes you think they can beat the Skins next week?
In the immortal words of Denny Green, the Birds "are what we thought they were....if you to crown them, go ahead and crown them!"
lead pipe lock, they beat the Skins and Fish to get to 5-5. NO guarantees past that.
There's no way this team is as bad as 38-17. Its an impossibility. Steady declines happen, but you don't go from 10-6 to 4-12 when you've been dominant for the better part of a decade.
They dominated a team that's now 7-1 in GB. They had every chance to beat the Skins in week 2. Our offense provided no oppty. against a 6-2 Giants team yet they were in that game in the 2nd half. They smoked a now 6-2 Lions squad.
We suck right now and its disappointing. I don't believe its time to go and blow out the Coach, GM, QB, everyone.
