After tonight's game, I realize that it's time to say something nice about the Phils....Cole Hamels is an absolute freakin' stud. There's no other way around it. If the kid stays healthy, he'll become the best pitcher this town has seen since Lefty. (And if the Phils ever find a closer, we might have another Schill in the rotation in Myers, but that's another rant for another day.)
We're getting close to the territory where every one of the starts by the "Dreamboat" (as a former co-worker derisively called him) is a must see. When he spots his fastball, his change up becomes unhittable and double digit strike out starts become common place.
It's amazing that four studs such as Cole, Utley, J Roll and Howard are coming up together. Let's just hope the Phils' horrendous management doesn't blow the prime of their careers by surrounding them with guys like Wes Helms, Pat Burrell and Tom Gordon.
Wow...it really wasn't that hard to be positive. What's come over me!
Stat of the Night: Yes, the Phils have reached .500, but they are still five games under .500 against the NL East. As usual, they are getting healthy against teams from lesser divisions.

We're 1/4 of the way thru the season and have just approached mediocrity. Unfortunately, were 10 back in the win column for a wildcard birth. Uphill climb for sure, but i take some solace in the fact the guys i ripped are playing good ball for us. I wanted the CF out of town since week 1 and he's hitting .360. The RF is a pretty good ball player, 14 SB, he gets on scores runs, has a good arm. The LF is the LF. Ruiz can hit a fastball which is more than we can say about the last catcher we had. My boy at 3B is hitting .300 and makes every play. Myers is a real closer except for 1 bad pitch in 16 outings.
Now, we need to get the 1B back and hitting, Gordon and Madson need to give us something for the 7th and 8th innings and we need the Braves and/or Mets to come back a little. This team can again win 86 games but it still may not be enough.
