The Sports Wasteland

Now that the Super Bowl is over, we are in the proverbial "Sports Wasteland". I'm going to have to get real creative to find things to talk about.

Seriously, let's look at what's out there right now. Does anything excite you guys?

-The Flyers are in the dog days of the season, which makes it hard to write about harder for you guys to care. On the bright side, the Flyers will probably sign Forsberg and then the daily "will he or won't he play" story start up again. Plus, it will also spark a debate of whether he'd interrupt team chemistry. (Personally, I think he will. I'd rather use the remaining cap money to trade for a defenseman.)

-The Phils are less than 10 days from having pitchers and catchers report, but it is still some time before Spring Training really gets going.

-NFL free agency is still a couple weeks away and there probably won't be much on the market for Eagles fans to get excited about.

-The Sixers are still a non entity, but continue to win enough games to keep themselves out of the playoffs, but in the purgatory that is in the 8th-10th first round pick territory.

-Sorry George, but there is no Philly NCAA hoops team to get excited about this Spring. (Although, St. Joe's has played well as of late.)

So, where's a sports starved fan to turn to for some honest to goodness action? Well, all I can offer is that next Sunday is the Daytona 500. I suggest you guys try that on for size. You might just warm up to the idea of watching good ol' boys making left hand turns at 200 mph.

Man o Man. your new name is Mail it In. They hockey guys honored #27 last nite and you can't bring yourself to mention it.

The Fightin's are 10 days from pitchers and catchers in the most anticipated season since 1979.

The Birds are faced w/ the fact they're behind 2 teams in the NFC East and it may be time to move the QB out.

Rutgers bothced another recruiting class (42nd in the Country and 5th in the League)for the 56th straight season.

There's plenty to discuss. Try a little harder Conlin.

MII, the Birds just tagged your favorite RU Alumni. Maybe you'll comment?

Ok, I admit, that was not my best work. My semester started up again and I've been busy working on that. I can't wait until this friggin semester is over. Then I'll finally have some free time.

Anyhow, you're right...there are some things to discuss. I'm just being a lazy beeyotch.

As for RU's recruiting class....I love these guys that rank recruiting classes. How the hell can you project what an 18 year old kid will do once he gets to college. Some of the most highly touted kids that RU has brought in over the years have flamed out and over the last couple years guys that the "experts" didn't like turned out to be very productive players. One more thing on RU recruiting, last year they were ranked in the 20's as far as recruiting classes.

Franchise tag on LJ huh? Even with him being out a good part of the season?

OK. I'll take it!

We'll allow me to retort. always wanted to say that... This school shit is getting old. how many more classes do you need to take to really tell the World you're over educated and under compensated?

Be careful what you wish for. I hear that the trade bait for a puck moving defenseman will be none other than your boy Upshall. Also, I would take Forsberg back in a heartbeat. Would you rather dress Jim Dowd or Forsberg? Are you thrilled with the play of the inconsistent Carter? Move him wherever you need to so that Forsberg fits. Are you happy with Briere? Briere is a disappointment. Not a leader, not making enough big plays. Get me Forsberg.
