Spring Training Rolls Along

I've been monitoring the Phils' Spring Training from afar and looking for something to post about, but nothing has really caught my attention since Ryan Howard's arbitration award was announced. Cole Hamels' bitching about his contract was mildly interesting, but ultimately annoying as I'm starting to get fed up with his whining. He wants a chiropractor, he won't pitch out of the 'pen if necessary, he wants more money, he won't rush back from injury...whaaaaaaaaa. Someone better toughen this kid up. The wife beater getting the nod as the opening day starter was also interesting, but the reasoning made sense, so I didn't go all that work up over it.

Anyhow, I'm starting to get concerned about the pitching staff. Closer Brad Lidge has already gone down and Adam Eaton and J. D. Durbin are looking as though he is continuing down the same path as last year. The only good knews has been that Kris Benson is a little ahead of schedule on his recovery from shoulder surgery. I have a real bad feeling about this year's staff. I have the distinct feeling that as bad as the starting staff and bullpen were last year, they could be even worse this year.

Someone, anyone....please make a contrary argument.

Lidge could begin throwing this weekend, Benson is pitching soon as well.

Gordon hasn't hurt himself yet. We have 1-4 and the assemblance of a bullpen. What's your problem.

Please don't tell me you are pinning any hope whatsoever on Benson.

You didn't mention the fact that that Kyle Loshe offered to resign for $4 million, less than last year, and the Phillies said they weren't interested. They are going to do everything in their power to make up for that extra $3 million they had to pay Ryan Howard. Would you rather have Loshe in your rotation or Eaton?
