Help Is On The Way...Or Maybe Not

Playing the role of Jose Mesa for the 2008 Phillies is Rudy Seanez.

In case you missed the latest bargain basement signing by the Phils, here are the details:

The Phillies just added a little pitching help.

They have signed righthander Rudy Seanez to a major-league contract, a baseball source confirmed today. Seanez, 39, went 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA and one save in a career-high 73 appearances last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his 16-year career, he is 36-26 with a 4.15 ERA.

The Dodgers released Seanez last week after a 7.71 ERA in spring training. He had signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Dodgers earlier this year.

Seanez is expected to be in uniform for tomorrow's game against the Nationals.
I don't know about you guys, but I feel infinitely more secure about our bullpen now that Rudy is on the scene.

Can't we just get Urbina out of jail and let him intimidate everyone with by throwing his machette from the mound? It would work better than what these guys could throw ;-)

Urbina threw gas. this guy had some decent numbers last year.

Looks like the Phils got help after all. Of course it is nothing they did. The help came from our friends, the Mets and Pedro since he got rocked and got hurt on his first start. Hey maybe the Phils will get lucky 2 years in a row :)
