Your Flyers Pre Season Update

In case you missed it, the Flyers are almost done their pre season and they are already faced with their first controversy. Check out this video from the Flyers game on Tuesday evening:

I realize most of you are saying, "wow, what a great hit!". However, the entire Province of Ottawa is apparently apoplectic over this hit by Flyers rookie Steve Downie, which damn near killed Dean McAmmond. This hit is being reviewed by the NHL and Downie is expected to get a multi game suspension. Downie is billed as a guy in the mold as Matthew Barnaby, Darcy Tucker, and Claude Lemieux. I, for one, pray this guy makes the team. He will definitely make things interesting even if he doesn't score a whole lot of goals.

Even with all the changes this team made in the offseason, things don't change much around here. We're not even out of the preseason and already the Flyers are suffering injury after injury. The most serious injury to come out of the Ottawa game is a broken wrist suffered by Scottie Upshall who could miss two months. Joffrey Lupul has a wrist injury that could keep him out a couple weeks. RJ Umberger and Randy Jones suffered minor injuries that should not prevent them for being ready for the start of the season.

Now that's hockey! Although, it kind of looks like he left his feet, so yeah, he'll probably be suspended. Close though.

Damn right he better make the team.

What the heck does "apoplectic" mean?

Yeah...that's twice now you've used it (I meant to bring that up last time). What's up with the big words, Mr. Dictionary?

You're gonna lose your fan base!

Awesome post, Anonymous. I always liked that guy. Or has Eileen gone icognito?

I hope this guy makes the team because Ottawa wants him bad. He could be really fun to watch. Did you watch those other YouTube highlight reels on this guy? F'in impressive with the fists and with the puck.

Apoplectic - Of, resembling, or produced by apoplexy: an apoplectic fit.

Having or inclined to have apoplexy.
Exhibiting symptoms associated with apoplexy.
Extremely angry; furious: “members of Congress who otherwise become apoplectic about wasteful government spending”

Jorge, don't get too excited about his fists. The guy's a midget and will get pounded by NHL heavyweights. He's a guy that stirs things up though. We need that on this team.

A midget? Did you see the fight he had against that huge guy from the NYR on YouTube? He tuned that guy up and he must have been 6 inches shorter and far lighter. The guy has a screw loose and that goes a long way in helping him overcome his size. He looks to be fearless.
